OXFORD, Ala. - Lotte Meyberg took home first place at Saturday’s JSU Foothills Invitational as Georgia State’s cross country team placed second in the meet among nine Division-I schools.
Meyberg finished the 5K in 18:25 to claim GSU’s first individual win of the season. Senior Morgan Laushey was GSU’s next-highest finished with a time of 19:14, good for 13th. Melanie Hamilt and Lindsay Shealy both finished in the top 20 and Angela Alonso placed 21st with a time of 19:41.
With five runners in the top 21, Georgia State finished second in the team scoring with 69 points, bested only by Lipscomb. The Panthers finished ahead of local schools Kennesaw State and Georgia Tech and Sun Belt-foe Troy.
The Panthers have just one meet remaining until the Sun Belt Championships on Oct. 28 in Boone, N.C. In two weeks on Oct. 14, the Panthers will be in Clinton, Miss. at the Mississippi College Invitational.
