TARRAGONA, Spain - Angela Alonso of Georgia State's cross country and track and field teams competed in her home country of Spain this weekend at the 2019 Spanish Under-23 National Championships.
Alonso finished third in the 800m with a personal best time of 2:10.81.
"After having a strong season in America, finishing up the year winning a national medal at home with my family and friends cheering in the stands was indescribable," Alonso said.
Last week, Alonso was named a 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-American for her success with both cross country and track and field and in the classroom. She won a Sun Belt Indoor Championship in the mile earlier this semester and at the 2019 Sun Belt Outdoor Championship, Alonso placed second in the 1500m to earn eight team points for GSU.
