ATLANTA – Georgia State’s cross country team will run against a fellow Sun Belt member for the third event in a row when GSU competes against Appalachian State in the Upstate Invitational on Saturday at 9 a.m. in Spartanburg, S.C.

It will be a good test for GSU as App State was picked to finish second in the conference in the preseason poll after finishing runner-up last season. Georgia State has run against two other SBC teams in UT Arlington and Troy this year, besting both opponents.

Also competing in the 5k will be Lipscomb, Kennesaw State, Florida Gulf Coast and host USC Upstate.

Freshman Angela Alonso has been the top GSU finisher in each event so far this season and was named the GSU Student-Athlete of the Week last week after placing first at the Trojan Invite.
