* Georgia State finished fourth on Saturday at the Upstate Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C.

* The Panthers put three runners in the top 25 with freshman Angela Alonso earning a top-10 finish.

* GSU has the week off before competing on Oct. 15 in Chattanooga.


ATLANTA – Georgia State’s cross country team finished fourth Saturday at the USC Upstate Invitational, a 5k hosted in Spartanburg, S.C.

Freshman Angela Alonso continued her strong start to her GSU career with a ninth-place finish in the event. Alonso finished the race with a time of 18:24 and was joined by junior Jordan Townsley and senior Sammi Donovan in the top-25.

Alonso has been the top GSU finisher in each of the first four races this season. Last week, she was named the GSU Student-Athlete of the Week after placing first at the Trojan Invite.

Lipscomb took home the top spot on Saturday in Spartanburg, followed by Appalachian State in second and Kennesaw State in third.

The Panthers get a week off before heading to Chattanooga to run in the Front Runner Invitational, hosted by UT Chattanooga.
