CHATTANOOGA – In the final warm-up before the Sun Belt Conference Championship, the Georgia State women’s cross country team finished third at the Front Runner Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Camp Jordan Park.

Freshman Angela Alonso finished the 5000-meter run with a time of 18:17.90, just five seconds off the lead.

Junior Jordan Townsley finished eighth for the Panthers with a time of 18:39.10.

Middle Tennessee won the event with 18 points, with host Chattanooga finishing second with 54. The Panthers were third with 71, while Winthrop (94) and Presbyterian Collegiate (134) rounded out the top five.

Georgia State also got strong performances from junior Morgan Laushey (16th – 19:08.72), junior Melanie Hamilt (23rd – 19:33.41) and senior Sammi Donovan (25th – 19:40.13).

Middle Tennessee’s Hannah Maina took the individual title with a time of 18:12.67, while teammate Agnes Abu finished second in 18:13.08.

Georgia State will travel to Troy, Ala., Oct. 29, for the Sun Belt Championship.
