ATLANTA - Georgia State's cross country team recorded an impressive 3.91 team GPA for the spring semester, the school announced this week. All eight members of the squad received academic recognition.

Angela Alonso, Morgan Laushey, Lotte Meyberg, Nuria Ramirez and Lindsay Shealy all were named to the President's Honor Roll which honors student-athletes who earn a 4.0 and above GPA. Brianna Archer, Melanie Hamilt and Jordan Townsley made the Dean's List (3.5-3.99 GPA).

The Georgia State Department of Athletics shattered all previous records with a 3.30 grade-point average for the spring semester and 227 student-athletes earning academic honors.

The 3.30 GPA topped the previous semester record of 3.18 set last spring. The outstanding semester gives the athletic department a GPA of 3.22 for the 2016-17 academic year. The combined cumulative GPA for all student-athletes now sits at 3.25, also an all-time high.

A record 51 student-athletes earned President's List recognition, Georgia State's highest academic distinction signifying a semester GPA of 4.0 or higher. Rhett Harper of the baseball team and women's golfer Solene Le Coz were the top individuals, each with a 4.30 semester GPA - straight A-plusses.

Eighty-seven individuals achieved Dean's List status with a semester GPA of 3.5-3.99, also a high for the department, and another 89 student-athletes made the Athletic Director's Honor Roll with a 3.0 or higher.
