ATLANTA- Georgia State’s women’s tennis coach Jason Marshall announced the signing of Ramona Eva Chivu on Wednesday afternoon. The Romanian national has played in top tournaments throughout Europe.
"Eva is a very special individual who has overcome a lot in her young life, said GSU assistant coach Alex Leatu. “With that being said, she will make an immediate, positive impact on our team and we could not be more excited. Her exemplary attitude and quiet confidence will help lead this program to success in the near future."
Chivu has participated in major tournaments throughout Europe. She has competed in the Czech Republic, France, Croatia, Slovakia, and Malta in the past three years. Chivu has had success in the Mamaia IDU Junior Championship, the Arges Cup, Tenis Club Bucuresti Trophy, and Dr Oetker Junior Trophy; all of which were held in her native Romania.
"In speaking with Eva, you can tell that she is a special person", said coach Marshall. "She has overcome a lot of adversity but it will only make her a stronger player and person. We are really excited to have her."
Chivu will join the Panthers for the 2018-19 season.
