*Georgia State women’s tennis dropped a Sun Belt match to Troy 4-3 on Sunday morning.
*GSU will next be in action hosting South Alabama and Georgia Southern on April 7th and 8th in Atlanta.
CONWAY, SC- Georgia State women’s tennis fell 4-3 to Troy Sunday morning in Conway, South Carolina. The loss dropped the Panthers record to 9-12 on the season.
The Panthers found themselves in an immediate hole after losing the doubles point 6-1 in the one flight and in a forfeit in the third flight. The number two pairing of Rehse and Muminović held a 5-1 lead when the Trojans clinched the point.
Another walkover loss, this time in the number six singles position would make the lead 2-0 for Troy. However, the Panthers would battle back as Muminović earned a quick 6-0, 6-2 win. Daniela Ramirez would tie the match with a 6-4, 6-0 win in the number three singles flight.
State would find themselves down again after losing on court two, but Rehse’s 6-3, 6-0 victory would even things up at 3-3. The Panthers would eventually fall on the number five singles court, giving Troy a 4-3 win.
It was a nice weekend in Conway for Rehse, Muminović, and Ramirez who all went 2-0 in singles play on the weekend. Sunday’s win was the tenth in the four position for Muminović and her 12th on the season. Rehse continues to lead GSU with 14 singles victories.
The Panthers are off next weekend before hosting a pair of Sun Belt pod matches April 7th and 8th in Atlanta. GSU will host South Alabama and Georgia Southern in pod play.
