ATLANTA- Georgia State women’s tennis is back at home this weekend following eight straight matches on the road. The Panthers will take on Georgia Southern at GSU Clarkston Friday afternoon at 4:00 p.m., and play host to South Alabama at Piedmont Park Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m.

GSU was originally scheduled to take on South Alabama Saturday and Georgia Southern on Sunday, but the match dates were rearranged due to weather and travel issues.

The Panthers will enter play this weekend with a 9-12 record on the season, and 2-2 in Sun Belt play. Georgia Southern is 10-6, while South Alabama will bring a 16-1 record that includes an 11 match winning streak with them to this weekend’s pod.

State defeated Georgia Southern 4-0 in Statesboro last season, but fell twice to South Alabama 5-2 in regular season play and again 4-2 in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.

Sunday will be a special day at Piedmont Park as GSU honors senior Kristin Rehse. Rehse has been a fixture in the Panthers lineup in all four of her seasons at Georgia State. The German native has won over 40 singles matches in her career and holds a 14-6 record this year.

Junior Daniela Ramirez, and sophomore Damira Muminović have also been major factors in GSU’s success with double digit singles victories.
