What you need to know:

-Georgia State women’s tennis will compete in the ITA Regional Championships this weekend.

-The event will take place at Georgia Tech’s Ken Byers Tennis Complex.

-Matches will be played over the course of five days, beginning Thursday morning.


The Panthers will continue fall play this weekend at the ITA Regional Championships. The team will have the comfort of staying at home as the event will take place in Atlanta at Georgia Tech’s tennis facility. The Southeast Regional features players from universities in Georgia and Florida.

Doubles and singles qualifying will begin Thursday morning. Senior Lara Vovk, junior Anastasia Grosheva, and freshmen Andreea Stanescu and Arielle Nealy will compete on the opening day of the tournament.

Senior Daniela Ramirez, junior Damira Muminović, and Freshman Eva Chivu will start play on Friday.

“The girls have been doing a great job taking care of details and valuing every drill in practice. Every girl plays an important role on the team, and I want them to compete hard for each other”, said head coach Leatu. “We are going to play some high-level teams in one of the toughest regions in the country. I am looking for them to rise to the occasion. For the team, it is about winning the day.”

The ITA Regional Championships is the second out of three events that the Panthers participate in this semester.
