GREENVILLE, S.C.- Georgia State women’s tennis was topped 5-2 by Furman Monday afternoon in Greenville. The Panthers fell to 1-2 on the season while the Paladins improved to 2-1. Senior Daniela Ramirez earned the lone singles point for GSU.


The Panthers jumped out to a 1-0 lead behind a strong showing in doubles play. Damira Muminović and Eva Chivu surged to a 6-1 win on court two, and Ramirez and Andreea Stanescu would clinch the doubles point with a 7-5 victory on court one.


Ramirez would give the Panthers a 2-0 lead in the match, winning in the number two singles slot 6-2, 6-2 and improving to 3-0 in singles play this season. It would prove to be the only singles win for Georgia State as Furman would earn three set wins on courts three and four and two set wins on courts one, five, and six.


The Panthers are off next weekend before traveling to Jacksonville to take on North Florida on February 1.
