ATLANTA, Ga.- After a ten-day layoff, the Georgia State women’s tennis team (1-2) is back in action this Friday afternoon visiting North Florida (2-0). The Panthers and Ospreys will meet at 3:00 p.m. in Jacksonville for a non-conference clash. The match will be the second of seven this season in which Georgia State will face a fellow 2018 NCAA Tournament team.

Through three matches senior Daniela Ramirez has starred for GSU, defeating all three of her opponents without surrendering a set. Ramirez has paired with freshman Andreea Stanescu for a strong 2-1 record in doubles play, while the duo of Eva Chivu and Damira Muminović are a perfect 3-0 twice clinching the doubles point for Georgia State.

The Panthers will look to pounce on a North Florida team that has not played a match in nearly two weeks. The Ospreys have not seen dual match action since a pair of 4-0 January 19 wins over Georgia Southern and Florida A&M. North Florida is looking to replicate the success of the 2018 season which saw UNF clinch the ASUN Championship and advance to the NCAA Tournament.

Twice during the ITA Southeast Regional in October a Panther found themselves opposite an Osprey. Chivu defeated UNF’s Constanza Gorches 6-2, 6-3. Lara Vovk fell to the Osprey’s top singles player Rafaela Gomez 6-1, 6-3 in the fall tournament.
