What you need to know:

Georgia State fell to East Tennessee State 4-3 Friday afternoon. After dropping the doubles point, the Panthers fought hard but came up short after splitting six singles matches.

* Tarani Kamoe and Arina Taluyenko earned GSU’s only doubles win with a 6-2 victory over ETSU’s No. 1 pair. Kristin Rehse, Damira Muminović and Anastasia Grosheva each picked up singles victories for the Panthers, but it wasn’t enough in the end.

* GSU will get back on the court next Saturday for a doubleheader at GSU-Clarkston. The Panthers will host Southern Mississippi and Mercer starting at 10 a.m. ET.


ATLANTA – After dropping the doubles point, Georgia State fell to ETSU 4-3 at Piedmont Park Friday afternoon. The Panthers (4-5, 0-1) lost its second consecutive match. The Bucs improved to .500 on the season.

GSU dropped the doubles point after the ETSU Bucs took two of three matches. The Panthers took a 1-0 lead in doubles after Tarani Kamoe and Arina Taluyenko defeated Marina Espana and Ioanna Markesini 6-2.

The Bucs fought back to take the next two matches and clinch the doubles point thanks to Alory Pereira and Yi Chi Ma’s 6-4 victory.

Junior Kristin Rehse came back from 5-1 down in the opening set to take down Ioanna Markesini 7-5, 6-2.

Damira Muminović elevated her singles record to 4-2 on the year. She outlasted Yi Chi Ma to give the Panthers their second point on the day.

Anastasia Grosheva grinded out a victory versus ETSU’s Jayde Viccars to close out the day. The Bucs clinched the match after Melissa Esguerra overpowered Lara Vovk to make it 4-2.

The Panthers will be back at home next weekend for a doubleheader at GSU-Clarkston. GSU hosts Southern Mississippi and Mercer. First serve is scheduled for 10 a.m. ET.
