ATLANTA- Looking to replicate the success of a 13-9 2017 season, Georgia State women’s tennis unveiled the 2018 schedule Friday morning. The Panthers will compete in 23 scheduled matches, as well as the SMU Winter Invitational on January 12-14 to kick off the campaign. After the opening weekend tournament, GSU will travel to Auburn to face off against the Tigers as well as Oklahoma and UL-Monroe.

The Panthers will then travel back to Atlanta to open up the home schedule on February 4th against Oregon. Georgia State will host nine home matches this season, including two doubleheaders on February 10th (Emory and Coastal Carolina), and March 17th (Furman and Liberty). Other home action sees the Panthers take on out-of-conference foes Winthrop and Marshall, as well as Sun Belt rivals South Alabama and Georgia Southern. The schedule concludes with the Sun Belt tournament in Peachtree City.

Georgia State, who made the NCAA Tournament in 2016, will have a difficult path to get back to the postseason. The Panthers will play three teams who finished the 2017 season ranked in the ITA top-25. GSU will battle seven teams that made the NCAA Tournament last season, and six teams from power five conferences.

Coach Jason Marshall enters his fourth season at the helm for the Panthers. This season he will be joined by first year assistant Alex Leatu. Georgia State returns seven players from last season.
