*Georgia State women’s tennis opened up the 2017 fall play Friday at SMU.

*The Panthers won two of their three doubles matches, and four singles matches.

DALLAS, TEXAS- The 2017-18 season got underway for Georgia State women’s tennis team, Friday afternoon at Metroplex Mania. All eight student athletes on the active roster participated in day one of tournament action. As a team GSU won two of their three doubles matches, and four of their seven singles matches.

Lara Vovk and Arina Taluyenko started the day of for the Panthers with a 6-2 doubles win. Damaria Muminović and Daniela Ramirez teamed up for a doubles win of their own. Muminović, Elizabet Danailova, Kristen Rehse, and Arina Taluyenko all won singles matches.

"I'm very happy with the first day of competition", said coach Jason Marshall. "Some of our girls had some big wins on the first day. I'm really proud of Damira for changing her game tactic in the Match. She is really having a growth mindset at how to win."John Moyer">

All eight Panthers are back on the court tomorrow. Action will begin at noon eastern.
