What you need to know:

*GSU women’s tennis heads to Birmingham for a pair of matches this Friday and visits Mississippi State on Sunday.

*The Panthers are lead by Arina Taluyenko who has a 4-0 singles record on the season.

*Georgia State is looking to extend their two match winning streak.

ATLANTA- Fresh off two straight wins, Georgia State women’s tennis is headed west to Birmingham for a pair of matches on Friday, followed by a trip to Starkville to take on Mississippi State on Sunday. The Panthers will take on UAB 11:00 am and Samford at 4:00 pm Eastern on Friday. Matches will either be played at UAB or at Samford depending on the weather. Sunday’s match will be at Mississippi State and start at 1:00 pm.

Georgia State has seen great production from an experienced roster. Leading the way is sophomore Arina Taluyenko who will bring a 4-0 singles record with her into this weekend. Daniela Ramirez, Kristin Rehse, and Damira Muminović each have three singles wins for GSU.

The Panthers are hoping for a similar result to last season when facing the two teams from Alabama. The 2017 season saw GSU defeat UAB 5-2 and Samford 7-0. Muminović as well as Anastasia Grosheva and Lara Vovk picked up singles wins in both matches last season. In their last meeting with Mississippi State, GSU fell 6-1.
