DENTON- Georgia State women’s tennis dropped the final installment of a four-match stint in Texas, 5-2. Freshman Elizabet Danailova and sophomore Damira Muminović both earned singles victories for the Panthers. State wraps up their four-match Texas road trip with a 1-3 record, highlighted by a win over No. 31 Kansas State.
GSU was in an early hole after dropping the doubles point. North Texas extended their lead to 2-0 in the match by virtue of a walkover decision in the number six singles.flight.
State would come back quickly as Elizabet Danailova won her fourth straight singles match 6-3, 6-3. North Texas would make the point back, as Kristin Rehse fell in the one flight for the first time on the Texas trip.
North Texas would clinch the win by taking a 6-3 third set in the third flight of singles. Damira Muminović would make it 4-2 by winning 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 in the four spot for GSU, before Lara Vovk fell in a third set tiebreak to give the Mean Green a 5-2 win.
The Panthers will wrap up Spring Break action this Saturday with a pair of matches in Greenville, South Carolina. GSU will take on Furman and Liberty in matches originally scheduled to be played at Piedmont Park. The doubleheader has been moved to the Palmetto State to avoid the rain expected to hit Atlanta.
