ATLANTA- The Georgia State women’s tennis team will travel to Conway, South Carolina for a pair of Sun Belt pod matches. GSU will take on Appalachian State Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and Troy Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m.
State will bring an 8-11 season record into weekend play, and five individual Panthers have winning singles records on the year. GSU’s hottest player of late has been freshman Elizabet Danailova who has won six straight singles matches, all in the second position for Jason Marshall’s team. The six straight wins have propelled Danailova’s individual record to 8-6 with an 8-3 mark in the two flight.
Kristin Rehse’s 12-6 record is a team best with 10 of the wins coming in the number one flight. Joining Rehse in double-digit victories is sophomore Damira Muminović who is 10-6 on the season and 8-3 when playing number four singles.
GSU will be challenged this weekend by the 10-5 Mountaineers and the 3-9 Trojans. The Panthers defeated both teams in each of the last three seasons learning a 4-0 win over Appalachian State and a 4-3 win over Troy in 2017.
