What you need to know:

*Georgia State women’s tennis competed in their first competition of the 2018-19 season in Dallas this weekend.

*Freshman Eva Chivu was a perfect 3-0 in singles play over the weekend.

*GSU will participate in the ITA Regionals at Georgia Tech in two weeks.


DALLAS, TEXAS- Georgia State women’s tennis participated in their first action of the fall season at the SMU Invitational this weekend. Freshman Eva Chivu impressed winning all three of her singles matches and taking home the championship in flight four.

Returning Panther, Daniela Ramirez won her first two singles matches of the weekend before dropping a close championship match in the number one flight. All of GSU’s six participants won at least one of their singles matches over the weekend.

In doubles play, Lara Vovk and Anastasia Grosheva won both of their matches in the number four doubles flight, while both of Georgia State’s other pairs went 1-2 on the weekend.

Coach Alex Leatu’s team will have a weekend off before the ITA Southeast Regional. The tournament will be played right down the road at Georgia Tech from October 18-22.
