ATLANTA- Georgia State women’s tennis will head to the Carolinas for a pair of road matches this weekend. The Panthers will visit Coastal Carolina on Saturday before taking on Appalachian State Sunday. GSU was originally scheduled to play Winthrop as well, but the match was postponed due to weather.

The Panthers head into the weekend with a 7-10 overall mark and are 3-3 in Sun Belt play. GSU has been hot of late winning four of the last five matches. State will look to stay on track facing two teams in Coastal Carolina (11-7), and Appalachian State (11-5) with winning records.

GSU has been led by strong play from the top three singles players in the lineup. Daniela Ramirez leads all Sun Belt players posting an 8-1 record in the number two singles slot. The senior is 4-1 against conference opponents.

Freshman Eva Chivu ranks second among all Sun Belt players in the number one flight with 10 singles victories and has won six straight singles decisions, while junior Damira Muminovic owns a perfect 5-0 record in the number three slot against conference foes.

“This week I have seen considerable growth in our team’s culture,” said coach Alex Leatu. “This team takes pride in a high standard and is committed to not having any more dips below that standard.”
