ATLANTA- Georgia State women’s tennis (7-12) hosts a trio of matches this weekend in the final week of play before the Sun Belt Tournament. The Panthers will take on Troy and Emory in doubleheader action Saturday before wrapping up the regular season Sunday against South Alabama. GSU will be looking to improve on a 3-5 Sun Belt record.

Both matches on Saturday will be at the GSU Clarkston Courts, Sunday’s regular season finale will be held at Peachtree City Tennis Center. The 1:00 p.m. matchup with South Alabama will give the Panthers familiarity with Peachtree City, before next weekend’s conference tournament.

Leading the way for the Panthers has been freshman Eva Chivu, holding an 11-6 record in the number one flight this season. The 11 wins are second most by any player in the Sun Belt in the top flight. Daniela Ramirez has been solid in the number two slot for the Panthers, earning an 8-2 mark.

Sunday the Panthers will honor the careers of seniors Ramirez, Anastasia Grosheva, and Lara Vovk. The three seniors have helped State to two NCAA Tournament appearances in the past three years and each totalled at least 20 singles wins.

“I’m really excited to watch these three seniors take the lessons they’ve learned as Panthers on to the next chapter of their lives,” said head coach Alex Leatu.
