BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - In the final tune up before the Sun Belt Indoor Championships, Georgia State's indoor track and field team posted nine top-5 finishes at the Samford Open Friday and Saturday in Birmingham.

Alysiah Whittaker and LaPorscha Wells finished first and second, respectively in the shot put with Whittaker setting a new meet record for the second straight week. Wells won the weight throw and Tracy Dorcement placed second with Whittaker taking fifth. On the track, Tyler Watson set a new personal best in the 60m hurdles.
