NEW ORLEANS - Rashell Reid, Alexus Shaw, and Jada Watson each received All-Academic awards for NCAA Division I Track & Field on Thursday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
- For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org.
- For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
"I'm extremely proud of Rashell, Alexus and Jada," GSU track and field head coach Chris England said. "They accomplished great things in the classroom, on the track, and in the field and they each deserve these honors."
Reid qualified for the NCAA East Prelims while recording a 3.47 GPA. Shaw maintained a 4.00 and ranked in the top 96 during the indoor season in the triple jump event. Watson was top 96 in the high jump and earned a 3.73 GPA.
