ATLANTA – With 11 members of the Georgia State court volleyball team earning academic honors, the Panthers finished the spring semester with a 3.76 GPA, third-highest among all female sports this semester.
Freshmen Morgan Hash, Madelyn Ott and Celeste Friesen each garnered President's List honors signifying a GPA of 4.0 or higher. Seniors Kristina Stinson and Morgan Patterson also earned President's List honors.
Freshman Sydney Stroud, redshirt sophomore Katie Kreger and sophomore Sarah Renner earned Dean's List honors with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Sohomores Shae Chapman, Anna Rantala and Crystal Lee were named to the AD Honor Roll with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
As a team, the Panthers finished with a cumulative GPA of 3.50 for the fall and spring semesters.
The Georgia State Department of Athletics shattered all previous records with a 3.30 grade-point average for the spring semester and 227 student-athletes earning academic honors.
The 3.30 GPA topped the previous semester record of 3.18 set last spring. The outstanding semester gives the athletic department a GPA of 3.22 for the 2016-17 academic year. The combined cumulative GPA for all student-athletes now sits at 3.25, also an all-time high.
A record 51 student-athletes earned President's List recognition, Georgia State's highest academic distinction signifying a semester GPA of 4.0 or higher. Rhett Harper of the baseball team and women's golfer Solene Le Coz were the top individuals, each with a 4.30 semester GPA - straight A-plusses.
Eighty-seven individuals achieved Dean's List status with a semester GPA of 3.5-3.99, also a high for the department, and another 89 student-athletes made the Athletic Director's Honor Roll with a 3.0 or higher.
Georgia State will return to the course in September with a pair of signed newcomers and six returning golfers. The Panthers finished second at the Sun Belt Conference Championship this year.
