ATLANTA – Head coach Sally Polhamus announced the 2017 schedule for the Georgia State volleyball team Wednesday morning. GSU will play host 10 times inside the friendly confines of the Georgia State Sports Arena and entertain Wofford, Davidson, and South Carolina State for the GSU Invitational in mid-September.

“We can't wait to get the 2017 season underway,” Polhamus said Wednesday. “We have a challenging pre-conference and conference schedule, facing six different conferences in the first 12 matches. Competing in a limited number of home matches this fall, we will rely on our fans to make our home court even more special.”

The Panthers begin the season with the East Carolina Invitational in Greenville, N.C. with matches against Rutgers, host ECU, and William & Mary starting on Aug. 25.

GSU also travels to UAB for the Blazer Invitational and Chattanooga for the Scenic City Showdown. A non-conference road trip to Kennesaw State on Sept. 4 separates the two tournaments.

The team comes home to the GSU Sports Arena for the first time on Sept. 16. The Panthers welcome South Carolina State, Wofford, and Davidson for the GSU Invitational that weekend.

Georgia State begins Sun Belt competition at home with ULM and Louisiana on Sept. 22 and 23, respectively. Home and away matches against Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, South Alabama, and Troy highlight the conference slate.

GSU will prepare for the Sun Belt Tournament in Jonesboro, Ark. from Nov. 17-19 after squaring off against Georgia Southern in back-to-back matches to close out the regular season.

Seven freshmen join the program for the 2017 season as the Panthers return four starters in juniors Sarah Renner, Anna Rantala, Crystal Lee, and sophomore Celeste Friesen.
