Sydney Stroud led the Panthers to a big win in the StarkVegas Classic over host Mississippi State and has been named the Georgia State Student-Athlete of the Week.
Stroud was a key factor in all phases of the game as she helped GSU to a 2-1 opening weekend. The junior recorded 35 kills and 33 digs at the StarkVegas Classic.
In Friday's season opener Stroud finished with five kills and five digs while dishing out a pair of assists and an ace in a 3-0 win over Mississippi Valley State.
On Saturday Stroud was terrific recording double-doubles in both of the Panthers matches. The Wisconsin native accumulated a career-high 17 digs to go with 12 kills in a 3-1 loss to Cal Baptist.
Stroud continued her sound play against Mississippi State putting up 18 kills and 11 digs in the 3-1 win as the Panthers left Starkville with a 2-1 record.
Georgia State will return to the road this Friday and Saturday for the Rambler Challenge hosted by Loyola-Chicago. The Panthers will face Marshall, Furman
