ATLANTA - Max Hemmings is this week's Georgia State Student-Athlete of the Week.
Hemmings scored two goals and added an assist in Georgia State's 4-3 Senior Day victory over the defending Sun Belt champs Coastal Carolina on Sunday, helping GSU defeat the Chanticleers for the first time since 1981 and finish conference play undefeated for the first time since the 1989 season.
The senior from Wokingham, England, netted his first goal of the afternoon in the 21st minute when he connected with a free kick from George Proctor and later gave Georgia State a 2-0 lead after a strike from inside the box. He then had a hand in the team's third goal of the first half, dishing an assist to Tristan Jumeau who's goal gave the Panthers a commanding 3-0 advantage.
Hemmings' five points are the most in a single conference match among all Sun Belt players this season. He ranks tied for third in the league with three total assists and is tied for eighth with three goals.
GSU returns to the pitch 8 p.m. Friday for its final match of the regular season at UAB.
