ATLANTA- Jeff Thomas of Georgia State men's basketball has been named GSU Student Athlete of the week following a career night in a GSU win over Mercer. 

Senior Jeff Thomas scored career-highs with 30 points and eight 3-pointers to lead the Panthers to a 62-60 win over in-state foe Mercer on Tuesday night. Thomas went 11-of-17 from the floor and 8-of-13 from 3-point range, while dishing out five assists, grabbing four rebounds and blocking two shots in 38 minutes of action.
 
Thomas’ eight 3-pointers are tied for the seventh-most in school history, while he became the second Panther in just three games to reach the 30 point plateau.
 
For the season, Thomas is averaging 19.3 points (fifth-best in the Sun Belt) and 4.3 rebounds per game, to go along with a team-best 38.3 minutes per contest. He is also shooting 47.8 percent from 3-point range and 90.0 percent from the free throw line.
Thomas and the Panthers open the Cayman Island's Classic against Saint Bonaventure Monday afternoon.
