What you need to know:

* Georgia State volleyball dropped its final match of the regular season to the Georgia Southern Eagles Saturday afternoon. The Eagles took the match by a final of 17-25, 20-25, 25-21 and 15-25.

* GSU falls to 10-17 overall and 6-10 in the Sun Belt. Georgia Southern improves to 15-17 overall and 7-9 in the SBC. The Panthers finish the season in fourth place in the East Division.

* Seniors Kristina Stinson and Eliza Zachary played their final regular season match as a Panther. The two combined for 20 kills on the day. Freshman Morgan Hash added another 11 kills and Sarah Renner totaled 35 assists. Celeste Friesen put together another double-digit dig performance with 23. Head coach Sally Polhamus and the Panthers will rest up and prepare for the SBC Tournament next week.

ATLANTA – Georgia State (10-17, 6-10) rallied from a 2-0 deficit in Statesboro, Ga. to take the third frame against Georgia Southern (15-17, 7-9) 25-21, but it proved too little too late. The Panthers fell to the Eagles by a final of 17-25, 20-25, 25-21 and 15-25.

Senior outside hitter Kristina Stinson and freshman outside hitter Morgan Hash combined for 23 kills on the afternoon. Sophomore setter Sarah Renner added 35 assists while freshman libero Celeste Friesen registered an impressive 23 digs to carry the Panther defense.

Senior Eliza Zachary and sophomore Sydney Stroud finished the match with eight kills apiece to supplement the GSU attack. Friesen also tallied 10 assists to go along with her double-digit dig total.

The Eagles took control from the opening serve behind Lauren Reichard’s strong offensive play. Reichard finished with 14 kills to lead all attackers. Defensive specialist Alex Beecher carried the Eagles defensively with a match-high 25 digs.

Right side Katie Bange and outside hitter Stephanie Spencer combined for 16 kills to add to Reichard’s offensive firepower. Setters Bange and Kendra Koetter teamed up for 40 total assists in orchestrating the Georgia Southern offense.

After dropping a point in the State versus Southern rivalry series, Georgia State will look to rest up and regroup ahead of the Sun Belt Conference Championship in Arlington, Texas.

The Panthers will head to Arlington next Wednesday before their tournament opener the following day. Time, opponent and other details on the match are TBA.
