LITTLE ROCK- Georgia State volleyball lost a heartbreaking five-set match at Little Rock Saturday night (25-23, 15-25, 25-22, 17-25, 10-15). The Panthers will return home next week after playing their last four matches on the road.

The Panthers trailed early in the first set 14-18 before storming back for a 25-23 win. After a rough second set, GSU hopped out to a 12-3 lead in the third frame. Georgia State would hold on to take the set 25-22. The Trojans rebounded to win set four 25-17 forcing a deciding fifth set. The Panthers had an early lead in set five, but Little Rock rallied to get a 15-10 win and secure the match.

Celeste Friesen tallied 32 digs in the loss, furthering her case for Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year. Carley Eiken dished out 21 assists in the match, and Morgan Hash led the way with 12 kills.

Georgia State will look to rebound next weekend as the Panthers host Appalachian State and Coastal Carolina. Three of GSU’s final four matches will be at home.
