ATLANTA- Georgia State volleyball fell to Appalachian State in four sets Saturday night at the GSU Sports Arena (25-18, 25-12, 23-25, 25-14). Sarah Renner recorded her 500th assist on the season during the match.

Appalachian State jumped out to an 11-6 lead in the first set. While the Panthers would cut into the lead multiple times, the Mountaineers would cruise to a 25-18 win. The Mountaineers opened up the second frame on a 5-1 run. Georgia State would again battle back, but an 8-0 run later in the set would secure the win for App.

The Panthers showed incredible resolve in set three. A 3-0 run to begin the set would propel GSU to 25-23 third set win. However, the Mountaineers would prove too much rolling to a 25-14 win to clinch the match.

Shae Chapman led the way for GSU recording 10 kills, six of them in the third set. Chapman hit .444 on the night and added a block and four digs. Sarah Renner notched 19 assists on the night, including number 500 on the season. It is the second straight season Renner has past the 500 mark.

Georgia State will look to rebound as they battle rival Georgia Southern in the final two matches of the regular season. The Panthers will be in Statesboro Wednesday night, and host the Eagles at the GSU Sports Arena on Saturday.
