ATLANTA, GA.- Georgia State is on the road for the first time in October for a pair of matches in the Pelican State. The Panthers will face ULM on Thursday night before battling Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns Friday evening. Both matches have 7:30 pm start times.

GSU will look to improve on a 2-6-conference record, coming off a pair of close losses to South Alabama and Troy over the weekend. Both ULM (0-8) and Louisiana (2-6) are looking to bounce back after a pair of losses to Arkansas State and Little Rock.

The Panthers have produced stellar defense at the net through four weeks of conference play. GSU ranks second in the Sun Belt with 2.81 blocks per set. Meisheia Griffin (1.61 blocks per set) and Sydney Stroud (1.19 blocks per set) rank second and fourth in the conference respectively.

Last Saturday the duo each recorded career highs, as Griffin put down 12 blocks and Stroud added nine over four sets against Troy. Griffin’s 12 blocks were the second most in a single match by any player in the NCAA, and the highest single match total for a Panther since 2006. The sophomore from Columbus ranks 39th in the nation in total blocks per set.

The Panthers have dominated the all time series with the Warhawks, holding a 7-1 advantage over UL Monroe. GSU is looking to improve on a 3-5 record in eight meetings with the Ragin’ Cajuns. Last season Georgia State defeated ULM 3-2 at the GSU Sports Arena, but fell to Louisiana 3-0.
