*Georgia State lost 3-0 to Coastal Carolina Sunday afternoon.

*Lauren Bandera recorded 16 digs, her ninth straight match in double digits.

*Next up for the Panthers is a home match against Georgia Southern Wednesday evening.  


CONWAY, S.C.- Georgia State volleyball fell in three sets (25-20, 25-22, 25-12) Sunday afternoon to Coastal Carolina. The loss came despite another big match defensively for Lauren Bandera and Madelyn Ott.

Bandera finished the match with 16 digs, her ninth straight match with at least 10. The freshman finished the road trip averaging 5.16 digs per set. Ott would add four blocks; making it the third time in four matches she has recorded at least four stops.

Coastal Carolina would lead the entire way in the opening frame, before GSU tied the score at 20-20 late in the first. The Chanticleers would take the next five points and a 1-0 lead in the match. The Panthers had a late 22-20 lead in the second set, but once again Coastal Carolina would take the set’s final five points. The Chanticleers cruised to a 25-12 win in the third which featured an 11-0 Coastal Carolina run.

Leading the way offensively for GSU was Sydney Stroud who delivered nine kills on the afternoon. Ott would add seven kills of her own and senior Sarah Renner would dish out 19 assists in the effort.

GSU will conclude the regular season this week with a home and home set with Georgia Southern. The Panthers will host the Eagles Wednesday evening and travel to Statesboro for Friday night’s regular season finale.
