ATLANTA- The Georgia State volleyball team returns home to host their last two non-conference matches before starting Sun Belt play next weekend. The Panthers will face  Northwestern State Friday evening before Sunday’s match against Brown.GSU has not faced either opponent in the past ten years. 

The Panthers play Northwestern State at 6:30 Friday evening. Georgia State holds a 2-0 record against Northwestern State, with the last meeting coming in 2000. So far this season, the Lady Demons have a  7-5 record. The team is led by junior Hannah Brister with 165 kills. She has been named the Southland Offensive Player of the Week for the past two weeks of play. 

Action continues Sunday at noon when the Panthers battle Brown. This will mark just the second meeting between the programs. GSU is 1-0, with the only meeting coming in the 2003 season. The Bears come to Atlanta with a 6-1 record.  The squad includes 15 veterans to the program and four freshmen.

Seniors Morgan Hash and Sydney Stroud have led the offense for the Panthers, each having recorded over 50 kills in the first nine matches. 224 of GSU’s 403 kills have come from an assist by Wisconsin-native, Kampbell Hehr.

GSU leads the Sun Belt with 75.5 total blocks. The Panthers are led by Meisheia Griffin with 37 blocks, best for second in the conference. Sophomore Lauren Bandera ranks second with 164 digs. 

Admission is free all weekend. Fans can park in the G Deck adjacent to the GSU Sports Arena.
