ATLANTA -D'Marcus Simonds of GSU men's basketball is this week's Georgia State Student-Athlete of the Week, powered by the U.S. Marines.
Simonds, a sophmore led the Panthers to a split of two games in the MGM Grand Main Event last week while scoring a career-high in points.
Simonds led the Panthers to a 75-54 win at Rice scoring 14 points, grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out seven assists in 32 minutes of action.
On Friday, the sophomore scored a career-high 29 points as the Panthers fell at Ole Miss 77-72. He added five rebounds and five assists in a career-high 39 minutes. Georgia State led for the entire first half and had a shot to tie the game in the final seconds.
For the season, Simonds is averaging a team-high 21.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 7.3 assists per game, while shooting 47.1 percent from the field and 72.2 percent from the free throw line.
