ATLANTA --Georgia State sophomore Kane Williams has been named GSU Student-Athlete of the Week following a strong performance against that team from down south. Williams came off the bench to score 19 points (one shy of a career-high) in 36 minutes in the Panthers 81-72 victory over Georgia Southern on Saturday.
Williams went 6-of-11 from the floor with a 3-pointer, along with a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line, including four in the final two minutes to secure the victory.
The sophomore added four assists, four steals and two rebounds. He entered the day third in the Sun Belt averaging 2.0 steals per game.
For the season Williams is averaging 10.5 points and 3.7 assists per game, while shooting 51.8 percent from the floor and 57.1 percent from 3-point range.
The Panthers return to the court on Wednesday facing ULM in Monroe. Tip is set for 8 p.m. ET.
