JONESBORO, Ark. - Georgia State had a chance to tie the game at the free throw line with less than two seconds to go on Thursday, but missed both free throws to lose 59-57 at Arkansas State.
The Red Wolves had the ball with a little over 30 seconds to go in the game and took the shot clock all the way down to two before calling timeout. After the timeout, Arkansas State’s Tahlon Hopkins hit a floater as the shot clock expired, leaving GSU down two with only 1.7 seconds remaining.
Georgia State called timeout to advance the ball, but never had to run their inbounds play as the Red Wolves fouled Haley Gerrin. Gerrin missed the first free throw and purposefully missed the second, but GSU was unable to grab the offensive board and the Red Wolves survived.
Jada Lewis scored 18 points to lead the Panthers. Kierra Henry was also in double figures with 14 and Gerrin finished with 10 points. Tiffany Holston grabbed 10 rebounds to go with her eight points and she added three steals on defense as well.
