* Georgia State fell to 11-17 (7-10 SBC) with a 52-45 loss at first-place Little Rock on Saturday.

* The Panthers mounted a comeback in the final period and closed the gap to two, but the Trojans were able to hold on.

* Georgia State plays its final game of the regular season Saturday as it hosts rival Georgia Southern in the Sports Arena.


LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Georgia State trailed by as much as 12 in the second half at Little Rock Saturday, but the Panthers pulled within two in the closing minutes before ultimately falling to the Trojans 52-45.

Three Panthers finished in double figures with Haley Gerrin and Jada Lewis each scoring 11 and Tiffany Holston adding 10 points. Gerrin made 5-of-7 from the field and added 5 rebounds, two blocks and a steal.

The Panthers found success in transition, outscoring the Trojans 15-7 off turnovers, but it was rebounding that doomed Georgia State on Saturday. Little Rock had 18 offensive rebounds compared to GSU’s 10 and the Trojans scored 18 second chance points to GSU’s four.

Georgia State’s late run was fueled by Holston with six of her 10 points came in the fourth quarter. Georgia State was in position to tie the ballgame, but Little Rock was able to come up with two huge offensive boards in the final minute and a half to secure the victory.

GSU’s final regular season game is at home next Saturday versus rival Georgia Southern.
