ATLANTA- The Georgia State women’s soccer team will close out road play in Arkansas in two of the final three regular-season matches of the year. The team ranks fourth in the nation for shutouts with nine, and are undefeated in the last five matches.

The Panthers are 5-3-6 overall and 2-1-4 in Sun Belt play entering the weekend, tying for third in the league. The only conference loss for GSU came against Texas State in the opening weekend for conference play.

Redshirt-junior Brie Haynes is leading the defensive effort for the Georgia State, making 70 of the team’s 72 saves this year. Haynes is half a shutout shy of tying the school’s record for shutouts in a season and her 19 career shutouts are ranked first in program history.

On the attacking side of the ball, two Panthers have scored multiple goals this season. Freshman Brooke Shank and senior Alexis Thomas lead the team with three goals each, and both having at least one game-winning goal.

Sophomore Caitlin Ray leads the team in assists, allowing Georgia State to score three times. Junior Rebecca Copeland ranks second with two.

Little Rock Preview

Little Rock is 8-6-1 overall this season and 3-3-1 in the Sun Belt, tying for third in the conference with GSU. The Trojans tied 2-2 with Coastal Carolina last weekend, while Georgia State defeated the Chanticleers 2-0.

This will be the fifth match between the two teams, with Little Rock holding a narrow 1-2-1 series advantage. The last meeting between the teams ended in a 3-0 loss for the Panthers in 2015.

Arkansas State Preview

The Red Wolves are 4-6-3 overall this season and 2-4-1 in league play, tying for third with GSU and Little Rock. The team is on a two-game win-streak, defeating UL Lafayette and Texas State last weekend.

The Panthers and A-State will meet for the fourth time in series history this weekend, with series history tied at 1-1-1. The last time the two teams met ended in a 1-1 double overtime tie.
