LITTLE ROCK, Ark.- The Georgia State women’s soccer team fell 2-1 in a tough loss to Little Rock Friday night. Freshman Brooke Shank scored the lone GSU goal, her fourth of the season.

The Panthers fell to 5-4-6 overall (2-2-4 Sun Belt) while the Trojans improved to 9-6-1 overall (4-3-1 Sun Belt).

Shank put Georgia State up early in the first half, scoring in the first four minutes off a corner kick from senior Callie O’Connor. Shank now leads the team in goals.

The Trojans tied the match five minutes later, with Arola Aparicio Gili scoring in the eighth minute of the half. Little Rock went ahead at the 22-minute mark when Quin Wilkes scored off an assist from Aparicio Gili. Wilkes’ goal was the eventual game-winner.

Shank and senior Alexis Thomas led the team in shots with two. Both student-athletes had at least one shot on target.

On the defensive side of the ball, redshirt-junior Brie Haynes made three saves in goal. Haynes now has 73 saves on the season.

The Panthers will be back in action to close out road play for the regular season at Arkansas State on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
