JONESBORO, Ark.- The Georgia State women’s soccer team fell 2-1 to Arkansas State in the team’s final road game of the season on Sunday afternoon. The Panthers have one more conference match remaining before the Sun Belt Tournament in November.
The Panthers fell to 5-5-6 overall (2-3-4 Sun Belt) while the Red Wolves improved to 6-6-3 overall (4-4-1 Sun Belt).
The match started off focused on defense, with just six shots taken by both teams in the first half. Arkansas State was able to take the lead late in the half after Lindsey Brochu scored off a throw in.
The Panthers looked to rally coming into the second half, but Bailey Reed scored quickly off a free kick in the 47th minute to put the Red Wolves up 2-0.
Senior Amanda Bruemmer scored the lone goal for Georgia State, earning a point off a penalty kick at the 83-minute mark.
Freshman Brooke Shank continued to lead the team in shots, taking five of GSU’s 13 with three on target. Senior Callie O’Connor took three shots against Arkansas State to come in second on the team.
The Panthers will be back on the field for their final match of the season on Oct. 21, to host South Alabama for Senior Day. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Live stats will be available at GeorgiaStateSports.com and admission to the GSU Soccer Complex is free.
