ATLANTA – Georgia State women’s soccer junior midfielder Brooke Shank was named Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday. Shank played a pivotal role in GSU’s recent success, helping lead the Panthers to an undefeated weekend.
Shank scored two goals in GSU’s 3-2 double overtime victory over in-state foe Mercer Friday and added two shots in the Panther's draw on Sunday. Her two goals vs. Mercer are tied for the most goals in a single match for a Sun Belt player this year and her four points in a single match rank tied for second.
Not only did the Cedar Park, Texas, native tie the season-high for goals in a single match, but she did it against a Mercer defense that entered Friday's contest with zero goals allowed and held its opponents to 4.0 shots per game.
Shank currently ranks tied for second in the conference in goals scored and tied for fourth in total points. She leads the Panthers in total goals (2), total points (4), total shots (8) and shots on goal (4).
