FOLEY, Ala. – Georgia State women’s soccer fell to two-seed Little Rock 2-0 in the Sun Belt Conference Semifinal round Friday night, concluding the Panthers’ 2018 season.

GSU ended the year with an 8-10-2 overall record while Little Rock improved to 13-4-3 and will face one-seed Texas State in the championship match on Sunday. Despite the loss, the Panthers had one of the best turnaround seasons in program history, finishing the final eight matches 6-1-1 after a 2-9-1 start. During the team's October winning streak, the Panthers strung together four straight conference victories -- a feat the program hadn't accomplished in 14 years.

The first half of the semifinal match presented a defensive battle between the two squads, both firing six total shots after 45 minutes of play but neither able to net the go-ahead goal. GSU goalkeeper Madi Card had a handful of great saves in the early going of Friday’s contest, tallying five or more saves in a match for the sixth time this year.

Little Rock broke the scoreless tie in the 54th minute with a strike from the right side of the box. The Trojans then added to their lead roughly 10 minutes later, getting a second goal from Second Team All-Sun Belt honoree Jaclyn Purvine.

The Panthers fought until the final whistle, getting shots from Monique Hundley and Lexie Knox – neither able to find the back of the net. Brooke Shank, Hundley and Knox led the Panthers with two shots apiece on Friday.
