ATLANTA – Georgia State women’s soccer welcomes defending Sun Belt champion Little Rock to the GSU Soccer Complex Friday night for the first conference match of the season. Friday’s showdown will be a rematch of the 2018 Sun Belt Tournament Semifinals, where the Trojans took a 2-0 victory on their way to winning their first ever SBC Championship.

SCOUTING LITTLE ROCK

◊ Little Rock enters the weekend on a two-game win streak after earning back-to-back shutouts against Mississippi Valley State (3-0) and Southeastern Louisiana (2-0).

◊ While the Trojans hold a slight edge over their opponents in shots on goal (48-46), their opponents have nearly doubled their number of corner kicks through nine contests (46-24).

◊ Freshman defender Julia Edholm leads Little Rock with three goals and six total points. Morgan Smocovich follows with five total points behind five assists, the most assists among all players in the Sun Belt.

◊ Friday will be the ninth all-time meeting between Georgia State and Little Rock, with the Trojans owning a 6-1-1 lead in the series. ULR defeated the Panthers twice last season, taking a 1-0 win during the regular season and a 2-0 shutout in the semifinals of the conference tournament.

LAST TIME OUT

◊ Georgia State concluded its non-conference slate with a 2-0 setback to in-state foe Georgia Sunday night at the GSU Soccer Complex. It was the third consecutive match the Panthers were unable to net a goal.

◊ GSU was limited to only two shots in Sunday’s contest, one from Brisa Zavala and another from Mikella Rodriguez.
