ATLANTA  - Georgia State is one of six regional hosts for the inaugural National Invitational Softball Championships, officials announced Sunday. Five teams, including the Panthers, will compete Tuesday through Thursday at the Heck Softball Complex for a spot in the NISC Finals.

Georgia State was announced as the Sun Belt Conference's Automatic Qualifier into the NISC late Sunday night. At the same time, GSU became one of six hosts for the regionals (May 16-18). Competing with GSU in Region 5 is Alabama State, Kennesaw State, UT Martin and Western Kentucky.

The regional bracket is May 16-18 and the seeding is determined by RPI. Kennesaw State (49 RPI) is the top seed and will play the winner of No. 4 Western Kentucky (98 RPI) and No. 5 Alabama State (249 RPI) Tuesday at 4 p.m. WKU and ASU open the tournament at 1 p.m. on Tuesday.

No. 2 Georgia State (58 RPI) will play its first game against No. 3 UT Martin (79 RPI) Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The regional bracket is a double elimination bracket with the Elimination Round starting Wednesday at 1 p.m.

The championship game will be Thursday at 1 p.m. with a second game to follow at 4 p.m. if necessary.

Admission to the NISC will be $10 per day, or $25 for the whole tournament. Children under 12 get in free and college students that show a valid student ID get in for $5 a day. Parking at the Heck Softball Complex is $10. Both admission and parking is cash only.
