TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – On Day 2 of the Easton Bama Bash, Georgia State’s softball team went 1-1 with a six-inning win over Northern Iowa followed by a six-inning loss to ninth-ranked Florida State.

Game 1: Georgia State 9, UNI 1 (Six Innings)

Remington Hasty and Megan Litumbe each homered to help Georgia State run-rule UNI. GSU led 2-1 after Hasty’s two-run homer in the second inning when rain moved in and the game was delayed.

Following the delay, Georgia State put up a four-spot on the scoreboard with a four-hit third inning. Kirsten McMonigle singled home a pair of runs and Caitlin Ray drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 5-1. Reagan Morgan then brought in the fourth run of the inning with a sacrifice fly.

GSU made it 7-1 in the fifth as Ivie Drake drew a bases-loaded walk. Drake’s RBI was her 170th career RBI, tying Callie Alford for the GSU record.

In the bottom of the sixth, Litumbe hit her 55th career home run and McMonigle singled in a run to put the Panthers up by eight and end the contest.

Emily Soles came in for Mandy Chance following the rain delay. Soles threw four scoreless innings, holding UNI to just three hits. With the win, Soles improved to 4-2 on the year.

Game 2: #9 Florida State 8, Georgia State 0 (Six Innings)

In the second contest of the day, Georgia State held the ranked Seminoles to just one run through the first four innings, but the FSU bats came alive with three runs in the fifth and four in the sixth.

The Panthers were held to just three hits. Ivie Drake went 1-for-3 with a double and Remington Hasty went 1-for-3 and stole a base.

The Seminoles used three home runs to score their eight runs on 10 hits.


Georgia State finishes the weekend Sunday against No. 10 Alabama on SEC Network Plus. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. ET.
