ATLANTA – For the second game in a row, Georgia State softball ended a game on a home run as Remington Hasty belted a walk-off homer in the seventh to give GSU a 3-2 win over rival Georgia Southern in Game 1 of the series.

Hasty’s fifth home run of the year moved Georgia State to 29-21 (13-10 Sun Belt) with two regular-season games remaining. The Panthers will go for the series win over the Eagles with a doubleheader Saturday at 1 and 3 p.m.

Georgia State loaded the bases in the first inning but couldn’t push a run across. The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the third when Megan Litumbe came to the plate with the bases juiced.

Litumbe smoked a ball opposite field over the right fielder’s head, scoring a pair of Panthers to give GSU a 2-0 lead.

Kinsley Jennings was dominant in the circle and took a shutout to the final inning.

Georgia Southern strung together three straight two-out hits, including a triple, to score two runs and even the score at 2-2.

Hasty then led off the bottom of the seventh and reclaimed the lead.

Mandy Chance picked up the win for the Panthers, her 11th of the season.

Georgia State will honor its six seniors following Game 3 of the series Saturday.
