Georgia State closed out the regular season with a 10-2 record in the final 12 Sun Belt contests to claim the No. 3 seed in this week’s Sun Belt Championships.
Ivie Drake was named the 2018 Sun Belt Player of the Year on Tuesday after leading the Sun Belt in batting average (.436), on-base percentage (.568), slugging percentage (.919), RBI (60), home runs (18) and total bases (137). Her total bases rank fifth, RBI total and slugging percentage rank eighth and home runs rank tied for 11th among NCAA Division I active career leaders. Drake peppers the Sun Belt career lists and is the conference’s the all-time leader in hits (285) and walks (174).
Drake and Megan Litumbe were both named All-Sun Belt First Team and freshman Skylar Mosel was named All-Sun Belt Second Team.
Megan Litumbe finished the season on a 10-game hitting streak and was named the Sun Belt Player of the Week Tuesday morning after hitting .538 with three doubles and six RBI.
The Panthers took two of three from Georgia Southern over the weekend, winning Game 1 on a walk-off homer and taking Game 3 in five innings at 8-0.
