ATLANTA – Coming off a record-setting year in the classroom, Georgia State earned additional hardware on Friday as five programs earned the Sun Belt Conference’s Team GPA Award.

Men’s Golf, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, volleyball and cross country were all honored by the league offices for having the best GPA of any team within their particular sport.

Eight other schools in the league were also honored on Friday, though no other school had more than two teams recognized.

Georgia State was led by cross country’s 3.86 team GPA, while men’s golf was just behind at 3.85. Director of Golf Joe Inman’s program was honored just a few weeks ago by the Golf Coaches Association of America for the highest team GPA of any men’s golf program in the country.

Women’s soccer added a 3.59 team GPA, while volleyball came in a 3.50. Men’s soccer rounded out the group with a 3.36 team GPA.

The 2017-18 academic year will officially begin on Aug. 21. Several teams have reported back already, including the football team which recorded a 3.03 team GPA during the spring.
