ATLANTA- The No. 30 Georgia State men’s tennis team earned a 6-1 victory over Middle Tennessee Sunday afternoon. Sebastian Acuna clinched the match for GSU, his second match-clinching point of the season.

With the win, the Panthers improved to 8-6 overall (1-1 SBC) on the season while the Blue Raiders fell to 4-8.

Georgia State opened the match clinching the doubles point in the top two matches. Zackery Kennedy and Andrei Andrukhou defeated Gonzalo Morell and Tom Moonen 6-3, while Felipe Jaworski and Quentin Coulaud defeated Nicolas Buitrago and Max Rauch 6-4.

Jannis Koeke was the first Panther to finish singles play, earning a 6-2, 6-0 win over Negre. Kennedy put GSU up 3-0 with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Morell, before Acuna clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-1 defeat of Gian Issa in the No. 5 match.

Coulaud earned a 6-3, 6-3 win over Luis Morillo Diaz to put Georgia State up 5-0. At the No. 2 match, Andrukhou fell 6-3, 3-6, 10-6 in the super-breaker to Moonen. Jaworski was the final Panther to finish, defeating Rauch 6-1, 4-6, 11-9 in the No. 6 match.

GSU will be back in action at Elon on March 12 for the first of four Carolina matches.
